Online Course on Indic Wisdom Literature by Debashish Banerji

Author: Administrator

Last Activity: January 10, 2015

Debashish Banerji will be teaching an online undergraduate course Introduction to Indic Wisdom Literature through the University of Philosophical Research classroom software platform Moodle this quarter (January 26 - April 5, 2015). This 10 week course, focused on Sanskrit spiritual and philosophical terminology, is based on Sri Aurobindo's interpretations supplemented by Judith Tyberg's (Jyotipriya's) and Debashish's insights on the Vedas, Upanishads, Gita, Puranas, Tantras, Buddhism and Vedantic darshans.

This course is part of the BA program in Liberal Arts (it is also simultaneously cross-listed as a graduate course in the Consciousness Studies curriculum) and is normally offered only to students enrolled in UPR degree programs. However, for those interested in auditing the course for a certificate of completion, it is being offered independently this quarter with the permission of the instructor. Auditing students will be provided with access to the course’s online classroom, which includes video and audio lectures, course guides and a weekly study plan. They will not be graded for midterm or final assignments but will be able to complete weekly quizzes for self learning. If they complete all such quizzes, they will receive a UPR certificate of completion at the end of the course. Audit students will not receive academic credit for the course. If eligible, the course can be taken for audit for $250. To be considered for enrollment as an Audit-based student, please review and fill out this application along with a copy of your last transcript. Applications can be sent to The University of Philosophical Research, 3910 Los Feliz Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90027, faxed to 323.663.9443or e-mailed to the Registrar at: registrar@uprs.edu - See more at: http://www.uprs.edu/graduate-admissions/non-degree.

Each quarter, the University of Philosophical Research also offers one BA course for free access for those wishing to become more familiar with its online experience. This quarter that course is the same Introduction to Indic Wisdom Literature taught by Debashish. Students wishing to take this option will be able to listen to the lectures for free but not have access to any assignments and very limited contact with the instructor or other students. You can read more about this option here: New B.A. Course Enrollment Options | University of Philosophical Research. If interested in this, please contact the UPR registrar by email at registrar@uprs.edu or contact Debashish directly at debbanerji@yahoo.com.
